The AMF in the USA

Supporting young Australian musicians in the USA

The Australian Music Foundation North America Inc was established in October 2011 to help support the work of the AMF, and to help support young Australian musicians studying and commencing careers in the USA. It was launched at a reception held at the Monash Room, Australian Consulate, hosted by the Consul General, Mr Phillip Scanlan AM.

On October 12th 2011, Heather de Haes (International Director of the AMF) launched the Australian Music Foundation North America Inc with the aid of the Australian Consul General, Mr Phillip Scanlan AM. The night was a great success, gathering young talented Australians both currently and soon to be studying in New York and the North East Corridor. With performances of original works by Stephen Newcomb (Manhattan School of Music) and Matthew Jodrell (Juilliard School of Music), it was evident that Australians are successfully making a great impact on the cultural life of North America and further justifying the need for the Australian Music Foundation North America Inc to be available to young Australians in aiding their paths to international success.

On 14th of November 2011, the Australian Music Foundation North America was excited to host Dr. Peter Treager, the Chairman of the Australian arm of the AMF here in New York. WIth a reception at the Lotus Club (photo below) as the venue for young Australians to gather and hear all the exciting news about the Foundation from two both Heather de Haes (International Director) and Peter Tregear (Chairman of the Australian arm of the Foundation).
